Documentary on Oil and Gas Conservation: ଜାଗିଉଠ (Jāgiutha)

I worked as Associate Director with Mr Pradeep Mohanty (Director, Samperk Advertising, Cuttack, Odisha), for a documentary film in Odia language, titled Jāgiutha (ଜାଗିଉଠ; Wake Up). This was part of the Sanrakshan Kshamtā Mahotsav (SAKSHAM 2018)—a campaign aimed at oil and gas conservation, supported by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Petroleum Conservation Research Association. The documentary was telecast via Doordarshan and Colors Odia television channels.

I am playing as Ballu in the Zee Sarthak mega-serial, To Pāiñ Muñ (ତୋ ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ; I'm for You).

   

Drama: ଦର୍ପଣ (darpaNa)

Authored, scripted, and directed a play, titled ଦର୍ପଣ (darpaNa), staged by the students of Blossoms School, Bharatpur, Bhubaneswar, on the occasion of their 33rd Annual Day.

The play unravels the unexpected outcome of an entrepreneurial plan executed by a group of educated but unemployed youth. In the end, a family of three generations realises a simple truth about human relationships, which is conveyed as a key principle for building not just happy families, but also inspiring schools, workplaces, and communities.

The play turned out to be a hit with the children, school staff, and the invited audience. Amid the warm applause and the unrelenting words of inspiration coming from everywhere, I was able to reconnect with my true passion, which is theatre. It was a great experience, which led to much reflection and learning for me, for which I am grateful to Blossoms School. I would love to do more of this.

Corporate Video for POWERGRID, Bhubaneswar

Designed, coordinated, and produced a 7-minute corporate video for POWERGRID, Odisha Projects Unit, Bhubaneswar, in September 2017. The video highlighted the achievements, capabilities, and future directions of POWERGRID, Odisha Projects Unit, presenting it as a socially responsible organisation. The video was prepared in consultation with Mr Sanjay Sahu (Chief Manager, AM/IT, Odisha Projects). It was scripted in English by Professor D. P. Dash and narrated by Mr Nishant Majithia, the well-known actor and cricket commentator.

ବିରୂପା କଳା ସମ୍ମାନ (Birupa Kala Samman)

I was awarded the ବିରୂପା କଳା ସମ୍ମାନ (Birupa Kala Samman) on 25 April 2017. Truly inspired to receive this honour in recognition of my contributions to the field of performing arts.

Direction Associate for Doordarshan (2017)

I was the Direction Associate for the following programmes, working with the eminent music director, Mr Bikash Das, Programme Executive, Doordarshan, Bhubaneswar:

1. New Year, 2017. A musical event on the themes of ଆଶା (hope), ଆଲୋକ (brightness), and ଆହ୍ଵାନ (challenge). (30 minutes)
2. Holi, 2017. A musical feature on the festival of colours, Holi. (30 minutes)
3. Independence Day, 2017. A musical feature on the Indian Independence Day. (10 minutes)

This was an opportunity for me to rediscover my interest in direction, which I shall continue developing in future.

I am playing as Biki (Bikram) in the Tarang TV mega-serial, Sankha Sindura. It is a Vidisha Crafts production, directed by Amit Ghosh, story and screenplay by Souvik Guha.

On Beauty . . . an insight

Beauty, anywhere, is truly beyond expression . . . It easily exceeds our finest words and our expert pictures. Yet, words and pictures are the only things we have, until we come face to face with beauty itself . . . I realised this deep inside me, upon spotting a bright and grand rainbow through the aircraft window, while on a flight to Malaysia.

N.B. Although the image above is also from the Malaysian sky, but it is not the one I saw through the aircraft window!

My Lyrics . . . kankaNa rupaara

This is a visualisation of my Odia poem, kankaNa rupaara, performed by Ameli in the album, sei mana chaDHei. The song comes alive in Tapu Mishra's voice, with musical direction  by Anant Kar. The album is produced by Nirakar (Nabadeep Entertainment, Odisha).

Cinema: Mu

I acted as Kalki, the divine character, in the Odia film, Mu, with co-artist Suman, the hero, directed by Nishikant Dalabehera. The film is presented by Satyabhama Creation and produced by Narendra Patra. Mine was a small but significant role, which comes in the climax scene towards the end of the film.

Music Album: Madhushala

Madhushala is the title song of an Odia music album of the same name. Co-artist Rani and I picturised the number sung by the legendary singer Mohammed Aziz. The visual director was L. M. Jitu.

I am playing as Bibhu Roy in ETV Oriya serial, Bada Ghara Bada Gumara Katha, an Arka Media production, directed by Ajay Rath. I am grateful to Jatin Nayak, the general production designer of ETV Oriya, for this opportunity.

Cinema: Raja Jhia Sange Heigala Bhaba

 I played a minor role as a lover boy in the Odia film, Raja Jhia Sange Heigala Bhaba, with co-artists Gudia and Arindam, the hero. The film is a Sarthak production, directed by Sudhanshu Sahoo.
